KUALA LUMPUR – Four of the 15 people detained for cooking instant noodles at a petrol station in Genting Highlands recently are expected to be charged in court tomorrow.

As reported by Berita Harian, Bentong police chief Zaiham Mohd Kahar said that one man and three women aged 23 to 24 will be charged.

They are expected to be brought to the Bentong court in Pahang at 9am tomorrow.

“They will be charged under Section 336 of the Penal Code (acts endangering the life or personal safety of others),” he said.

He added that the remaining 11 individuals have been released and will serve as witnesses in the case. He also confirmed that none of the 15 people detained in connection with the case are children of prominent figures or VIPs.

This follows viral social media claims that 15 individuals were detained in connection with the case, including two alleged to be the children of a deputy minister.

Earlier, Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman reported that police recorded statements from 15 people, including five women, to assist in the investigation.

He said they were detained when they came to the Bentong police headquarters to have their statements recorded.

However, all of them have been released on bail after their statements were recorded. – May 20, 2024
