Cops nab man who showed private parts on video call for sexual harassment

Victim who lodged police report says she met suspect on Instagram a month ago, claims he also spoke obscenely to her

KUALA LUMPUR – A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday for exposing his private parts during a video call with a woman. 

The Wangsa Maju police headquarters, in a statement, said the 24-year-old victim filed a police report on May 17, alleging sexual harassment via a video call while she was at her home in Taman Melewar. 

The complainant revealed she had become acquainted with the man earlier this month through Instagram.  

She also alleged that during the video call, the suspect exposed his private parts and spoke obscenely to her. 

The police arrested the suspect at around 2.25pm yesterday for further investigation.  

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. 

The police advised the public to exercise caution when using social media and not to be easily deceived by individuals they have just met online.
