KUALA LUMPUR – Heavy rain in the capital this afternoon brought another tree down, this time near Bulatan Pahang, causing a kilometre-long traffic jam.

The tree blocked a slip road leading to the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway near the Hospital Kuala Lumpur MRT station, Bernama reports.

Traffic was forced to divert to other roads.

The road around Bulatan Pahang is also reportedly slightly flooded.

Earlier today, the Meteorological Department warned of thunderstorms and heavy rain in almost all states until at least 6pm today, especially on the west coast of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.

Rain intensity of more than 20/mm per hour is expected in Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and most of Perak, Kelantan, as well as Melaka. – June 1, 2024
