Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents to be released today: lawyer

Lawyer also said based on police evidence, parents mights be charged under different sections of the Penal Code, other than Section 302 for murder

PETALING JAYA – The grandparents of murdered 6-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin will be released this morning, lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, confirmed.  

Both the boy’s grandfather and grandmother were detained yesterday.

Fahmi, representing Zayn’s father, also earlier confirmed that the parents will be charged today.  

However, he said he could not divulge the details of the charges. 

He said that they may be charged in either magistrates’ court or session court.  

Based on police evidence, there is a possibility for the couple to be charged under different sections of the Penal Code, other than Section 302 for murder, Fahmi added.

The grandparents arrived at the court complex at about 9.15am, around the same time as Zayn’s parents – but separately, reports said. – June 13, 2024
