KUALA LUMPUR – A hazardous materials (hazmat) team was deployed to the Sepang Aircraft Engineering facility at the Southern Support Zone of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after a chemical leak was reported.
In a statement earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department said a distress call was made at 11.23am today.
Its operations commander, Muhammad Nur Khairi Samsumin, said the team is still identifying the chemical substance that leaked.
“Six personnel from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Department along with the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department hazmat unit were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident further,” he added.
Earlier, a social media post alleging a gas leak in the area, with a picture showing a group of individuals gathered at the scene went viral. – July 4, 2024
