Dr Mahathir hospitalised at IJN for cough

Spokesman confirms that the 99-year-old ex-PM was admitted on Monday

KUALA LUMPUR –  Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been hospitalised at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and is being treated for a cough.

His spokesman, Sufi Yusoff, confirmed via WhatsApp that the 99-year-old had been warded since Monday.

“He is being treated for cough but I am not able to go beyond that without an official medical statement at the moment,” he said briefly.

Sufi also said that the two-time former prime minister will be hospitalised for a few days under the care of his medical team.

He was previously admitted to IJN on January 26 for infection treatment and observation and was discharged on March 18. – July 18, 2024.
