CYBERJAYA – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) traffic summons payment counters, which offer discounts of up to 50% during the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024 launch ceremony, have become the primary attraction for visitors today.

As of 1.30pm, visitors were still queuing up to settle their traffic summonses despite the scorching heat.

This offer, available from 9am to 4.30pm, piqued the interest of businessman S. Selvarajah, 72, who came to pay traffic summonses on behalf of a relative.

“It is very convenient that the government organises events with such a facility, allowing me to pay the summonses easily even though the queue was very long,” he said.

Nursyikin Samad, 45, an online trader who had been in line since 8.30am to take advantage of the discounts, said the offer made it easy for her to settle her summons quickly.

“This offer is good, but the queue was quite long, and in this hot weather, it was rather difficult for me to stand for a long time,” said Nursyikin, who lives in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, businessman Cheng Zhe Tiong, 34, who was also queuing to pay his summonses, believes that PDRM should implement this initiative more frequently in each district or state.

“Sometimes our work schedules are unpredictable, and going to the right place to pay can be difficult, and we forget, so if PDRM could do this more frequently, it would be better for busy people like me,” he said.

The carnival-themed National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024 launch ceremony, which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 3pm., serves as a platform to promote the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

This event counts down to the 2024 National Day celebration on August 31 in Putrajaya and Malaysia Day on September 16 in Sabah.

The public can learn more about the National Day and Malaysia Day 2024 celebrations, as well as the various programmes held throughout the national month, by visiting the merdeka360 website. – July 21, 2024
