KUALA LUMPUR – Police have identified the suspect in an attempted robbery at a drinks and ice-cream shop in Taman Sri Muda, Selangor, yesterday and have begun an active search for him.
Shah Alam police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the suspect attacked a 21-year old woman who was working alone at the shop at around 11.30am yesterday.
It is understood that the shop is a branch of a popular franchise selling iced tea and ice cream.
The suspect, who was wearing a face mask and armed with a paper cutter, attempted to rob the woman who sustained injuries before the suspect ran away.
Iqbal said police have reviewed the CCTV footage and have identified the suspect, with an active search underway to locate and apprehend him.
The victim, meanwhile, was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment and was discharged at 1am today.
Police were notified of the attempted robbery about 10 minutes after it took place by the victim’s 36 year-old brother.
No financial losses were reported by either the victim or the company.
Police are currently investigating the case under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which deals with armed robbery and carries severe penalties, including up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or caning. – August 13, 2024
