KUALA LUMPUR — Taylor Swift, 34, is now the richest female musician worth US$1.6 billion (RM6.85 billion), according to estimates by Forbes.

This is an increase of US$500 million from her worth last October at US$1.1 billion when Forbes said she was the first musician to become a billionaire solely based on the value of her songs and performances last year.

In June last year, her worth was US$740 million.

Swift is estimated to have earned US$190 million alone from the first leg of her The Eras Tour last year, while the entire tour is said to have exceeded US1 billion in total gross earnings, according to Pollstar.

The Eras Tour is still ongoing and ends in December.

Forbes’ breakdown of Swift’s wealth include US$600 million from her music catalog, another US$600 million from tours and royalties, and US$125 million in real estate.

Behind Swift is Rihanna at US$1.4 billion, whose wealth Forbes said comes mostly from her equity in Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty companies, rather than her music.

The riches male musician, in contrast, is Jay-Z, with an estimated net worth of a US$2.5 billion currently. – October 9, 2024
