Qatar Airways suspends flights to and from Iran, Lebanon

Airline will continue servicing Jordan and Iraq routes but during daylight hours

ISTANBUL — Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended two regional routes Thursday, according to Anadolu Agency.

“Due to the current situation in the Middle East region, Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended flights to and from Iran and Lebanon until further notice,” it said in a travel alert.

The airline reassured passengers that flights to Jordan and Iraq would continue to operate “during daylight hours.”

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary,” it said.

It comes as tensions in the region have escalated, prompting airlines to reassess operations.

Tensions have escalated due to Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 42,800 people, mostly women and children.

The conflict has spread to Lebanon, with Israel launching deadly strikes across the country in an escalation of a year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of the onslaught in Gaza. – October 25, 2024
