KUCHING – Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) is set to be the sole gas aggregator in the state, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.

He noted that discussions between Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and Petros regarding the distribution of natural gas in Sarawak have been concluded, and the decision was conveyed to Sarawak’s Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.

“This means that we will proceed with our efforts as the gas aggregator, and further details and the formula will be discussed. This is the agreement in principle and an official letter will follow,” he said,

Abang Johari said this to reporters when met at the Deepavali open house event hosted by the Malaysian Medical Association president Datuk Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira here, today.

Previously, Abang Johari said the negotiations between the two oil companies needed to be concluded before October 1 this year.

According to RHB Investment Bank Bhd, Petronas may see a decline in revenue as it will no longer be the sole gas aggregator in Sarawak. – October 31, 2024
