KUALA LUMPUR – The government will be providing 100 laptops, 100 tablets, 100 smartphones and 500 power banks to those affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
In a statement today, Gobind said applications for the devices can be made starting today through the service centre of Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S. Preakas.
“During my visit to the temporary evacuation centre at the Putra Heights Mosque this morning, I was informed that many of the victims’ digital devices were either lost or damaged in the incident,” he said.
He also informed that MyDigital Corporation, an agency under the Digital Ministry, will also work closely with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation and the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office to provide an online platform to ensure clear and timely information is disseminated to the victims.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly to help those affected by this incident.
“The Digital Ministry, together with its agencies, will continue to work closely with the victims.
“We hope that those who are injured will recover quickly, and those who have suffered losses will receive the necessary assistance in facing these difficult times,” he said. – April 4, 2025
