Putra Heights fire victims: Berjaya, Matrix donate RM3,000 per family 

Carsome also offers 50 cars for temporary use, joining other auto companies that are providing transport solutions

SUBANG JAYA – More private companies are providing assistance to victims of the Putra Heights gas pipe file on April 1

They include Berjaya Corporation (Berjaya) which today donated RM3,000 each to 300 families, and developer Matrix Concept Holdings Berhad (Matrix) which also donated RM3,000 each to 100 families.

Integrated car e-commerce company, Carsome, has also sponsored 50 cars for temporary use by fire victims. For the first phase today, 20 cars were handed over to victims.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who was present at the handover of donations by Berjaya, Matrix and Carsome today, expressed his appreciation for their efforts in helping the government to assist the fire victims.

“So many corporate companies have come forward to provide assistance and donations. This is a the Malaysian spirit that we can be proud of,” Loke said at the ceremony held at the Putra Heights LRT Station today.

Also present were Berjaya founder, Tan Sri Vincent Tan; Matrix CEO Chai Keng Wai and Carsome CEO Eric Cheng.

To date, other auto companies that have donated assistance to the fire victims are Chery, Carro, YonMing, Tan Chong Motors, Warisan TC Holdings, GoCar and DRB-Hicom through EON.

Selangor investment, trade and mobility committee exco Ng Sze Han today also said today that Panasonic is offering 240 e-vouchers worth RM500 each to help victims purchase new household appliances. 

The fire displaced 1,254 people from 308 families. Of the total 235 properties damaged, 87 houses are a total loss, while other are in need of repair before they can be re-occupied. Another 115 homes have been certified safe for their residents to return. – April 5, 2025
