KUALA LUMPUR — Four incidents of cable vandalism in 24 hours have struck Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), causing service disruptions to its KLIA Express and KLIA Transit services.
Following the fourth incident this morning, ERL has arranged for shuttle services starting 6am between the Salak Tinggi Station and KLIA Terminal 1 and 2, and the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Station and KL Sentral.
These shuttle services are at a frequency of every 20 minutes, ERL said in a statement.
Passengers are advised to seek alternative transport and to plan their journeys accordingly.
The fourth and latest incident of vandalism was at KM40.6 between the Salak Tinggi and Putrajaya-Cyberjaya stations, around 5.20 am today, leading to the suspension of services.
The first incident occurred at 6.20 am yesterday, at the cable at KM48.5 between Salak Tinggi station and KLIA Terminal 1, ERL said.
Consequently, KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services were combined at 6.58am from KLIA Terminal 2 and 7am from KL Sentral yesterday, while signal systems underwent repairs.
The second cable cut occurred at KM43.1 at 5.25pm yesterday between Putrajaya-Cyberjaya and Salak Tinggi, resulting in delayed arrivals for all trains by seven to 10 minutes.
Later last night, at 9.57pm, train services were again suspended due to a problem with signalling systems at the Bandar Tasik Selatan station. Train shuttle services between the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Station to KLIA 2 were started soon after at 10.20pm at 20-minute intervals.
The third cable cut occurred at KM47.2 at 4.47 am today, between Salak Tinggi Station and KLIA Terminal 1.
