KUALA LUMPUR – A 21-year-old man believed to be involved in the recent kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in Seremban was shot dead in a confrontation with police early this morning in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director Datuk Fadil Marsus said police had tracked down the suspect driving a blue Proton Wira on Jalan Bayu Tinggi.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect tried to flee, driving against the flow of traffic before ramming into a police car, prompting a high-speed chase.

“A shootout occurred between the suspect and police officers at the scene. The suspect was shot dead,” media quoted him as saying.

A search of the suspect’s vehicle uncovered a semi-automatic pistol and a parang. Authorities confirmed that he had no prior criminal record.

The suspect is reportedly linked to the kidnapping case in Avenue 2, Seremban, where the teenage victim was abducted on the evening of April 10. Her kidnappers initially demanded a RM2 million ransom, which the victim’s family later paid RM280,000 and handed over several pieces of jewellery.

She was released unharmed at 9.30pm on April 11 in Sendayan, Negri Sembilan.

Following the victim’s release, police conducted several raids and arrested six individuals – three men and three women aged between 21 and 30 – in Sendayan to assist in investigations. Authorities also recovered RM230,000 and other items believed to be linked to the ransom.

According to NST, Fadil said the police now consider the kidnapping case solved with these arrests and reassured the public of their commitment to combating violent crime. – April 14, 2025
