KUALA LUMPUR – The Communications Ministry will air a special documentary on the life of the late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to honour the legacy of the country’s fifth prime minister.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said it would be beneficial for the younger generation to understand Abdullah’s contributions.
He said archived material of Abdullah’s administration could be put together to educate the young about his leadership and accomplishments.
“I will request for his profile and some documentary material on what he has accomplished as the fifth prime minister to be re-aired with a focus for the younger generation,” Fahmi told reporters at the National Mosque here where he attended the state funeral for Abdullah.
Abdullah, who was prime minister from October 2003 to March 2009, died yesterday evening at the National Heart Institute. He was aged 85.
“The late Abdullah was a statesman who was very humble.
“Personally, I am also sad and I offer my condolences to his family,” Fahmi added.
The minister expressed gratitude to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who had consented to give Abdullah the honour of being buried at the Heroes’ Mausoleum.
Abdullah is survived by his wife Jeanne Abdullah, and children Nori and Kamaluddin from his first marriage to Tun Endon Mahmood who died of breast cancer in 2005. – April 15, 2025
