KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all parties to refrain from taking any action or issuing statements regarding the ongoing Petronas-Petros matter, stressing the importance of mutual interest and ongoing dialogue.
This appeal follows Anwar’s conversation with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg yesterday, where both leaders discussed the arrangement involving the two oil and gas companies “based on principles that were previously agreed upon.”
Anwar said further discussions to finalise the matter will resume as soon as Abang Johari returns from his official visit to London, United Kingdom.
“In the meantime, all parties should hold off on any moves or comments, in the spirit of shared interests,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.
He expressed confidence that the issue could be resolved through calm and constructive engagement, adding: “I strongly believe that this issue can be resolved wisely by staying committed to a path of healthy and meaningful dialogue, Insya-Allah.” – May 4, 2025
