KUALA LUMPUR – The husband of missing woman Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh is among several individuals currently being investigated by police in connection with her disappearance, confirmed Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
Razarudin said while investigations are ongoing, authorities have identified multiple individuals, including Ling’s husband, as persons of interest in the case, Bernama reported.
“For now, it is a possibility (that the husband is on the list of suspects), and there may be others as well. The investigation is not yet complete, and we believe there are other individuals we are also treating as suspects,” he told reporters after presenting the 2024 Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Excellent Service Awards at the Senior Officers’ Mess in Bukit Aman.
According to Razarudin, police have recorded statements from 16 people so far, including Ling’s husband, who remains in the country. He added that a statement would also be taken soon from the couple’s child, who is currently in Singapore.
As part of the investigation, police are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and have interviewed the e-hailing driver who had transported Ling to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya on the day she vanished. The driver earlier claimed that a group of individuals wearing police vests had intercepted his car and forced Ling into another vehicle.
“The investigation is ongoing to determine whether they were impersonating police or were actual officers involved in misconduct. We do not tolerate such behaviour. There is history – in previous cases where officers were involved in robbery or kidnapping, we charged them in court,” Razarudin said.
A special task force under the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department has been formed to handle the case, with its first meeting chaired by Razarudin scheduled to take place tonight. The investigation is being led by the Kuala Lumpur police contingent under Section 363 of the Penal Code for abduction.
Pamela Ling, 42, was reported missing on April 9 while on her way to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya. She had been travelling in an e-hailing vehicle when she was allegedly taken by individuals dressed in police vests, as detailed by the driver in an earlier report.
The driver said he was forced to mark the trip as completed before the group took Ling away. They also confiscated his MyKad, driving licence, and contact details. He later lodged a police report.
Police have not received any ransom demands, and investigations are focused on verifying the identities of the individuals involved and the motive behind the abduction. – May 6, 2025
