KUALA LUMPUR – The husband of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh whose remand application by police was rejected by the sessions court has been cooperative and assisting in investigations since she went missing.
In fact Datuk Seri Thomas Ha Tiing Siu, a prominent Sarawak businessman, was one of the ones who lodged a report on his wife’s disappearance, said Ha’s lawyer Datuk Selva Mookiah.
“He lodged one report and two IOs (investigation officers) have recorded his statement about a month ago.
“So what has changed that required him to be remanded now?” queried Selva.
Earlier, Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said Ha was arrested at an apartment in the city on Thursday morning but the police’s application for a four day remand was rejected.
Selva told Scoop that the court had heard during the remand proceedings of Ha’s cooperation in investigations into his wife’s disappearance.
“It does not make sense for someone to kidnap his wife then lodge a police report,” Selva said.
Ha reported that his wife went missing on April 9 while on route to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya.
Ling, 42, was scheduled to give a statement related to an ongoing MACC investigation against Ling and Ha for money laundering and graft.
Similar investigations are being conducted by Singapore’s Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
Her disappearance has sparked speculation due to the nature of her abduction.
According to statements given by Ha, Pamela’s brother Simon Ling Wan Siong and lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo who represents the family — Ling’s e-hailing ride was intercepted by three cars on the Maju Expressway (MEX) and five individuals wearing police-styled vests forced her out and into another car.

The e-hailing driver in his report meanwhile said he was forced to terminate the ride on the app.
“The pertinent question that needs to be asked is why her phone went silent while she was still on MEX,” said Selva.
According to reports, her cell phone went silent at 1.52pm, however her lawyer Datuk N.Sivananthan received a message from her at 1.57pm, saying she was in an e-hailing ride on the way to MACC. Her estimated time of arrival was 2.08.
“So there is a need for investigations and he is (cooperating) and will cooperate,” Selva added.
He confirmed that Ha, 55, and Ling were going through a divorce. They have three children including two minors. – May 15, 2025
