TH Travel denies links with fake ‘RM10,000 upfront’ haj package

Company says it does not offer subsidised or externally sponsored packages requiring pilgrims to pay to unofficial or individual accounts

KUALA LUMPUR – A bogus haj scheme offering “discounted” pilgrimages for as low as RM10,000 has prompted TH Travel & Services Sdn Bhd to issue a warning denying any connections to the so-called “Program Haji Infaq Masyarakat”.

The scheme, masquerading as a legitimate haj package, falsely claims to offer TH Travel-managed pilgrimages for RM123,990 with an upfront payment as low as RM10,000.

In a statement, the company stressed it has never appointed any individual, company or third-party to promote, manage, or collect payment for any of its haj or umrah packages.

“We understand that a police report has been lodged and an investigation is underway by the authorities, and TH Travel is prepared to provide full cooperation to the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission in handling this case,” it said.

As a licensed haj and umrah operator regulated by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), the company said all payments must be made strictly through TH’s official account.

“TH Travel does not offer subsidised or externally sponsored packages that require pilgrims to pay into unofficial or individual accounts.

“We are not involved in any form of fundraising through cleaning companies, cake businesses or third-party intermediaries,” it added.

TH Travel said it takes seriously any misuse of its name and reputation to mislead Muslims intending to perform the haj. – June 8, 2025
