Malaysians in the affected regions urged to remain alert and take all necessary precautions

KUALA LUMPUR – The Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory for Malaysians in Iran, Iraq and Jordan in light of escalating tensions in the Middle East following the recent conflict between Iran and Israel.

In a statement, the ministry—through its embassies in Tehran, Baghdad and Amman—said it is closely monitoring the situation and urged Malaysians in the affected regions to remain alert and take all necessary precautions.

“As a result of the escalating tensions, Iran and several countries in the region, namely Iraq and Jordan, have closed their airspace. Malaysians in the region are advised to anticipate potential disruptions to flight schedules and make the necessary adjustments to their travel plans,” it said.

“Non-essential travel to these areas should be deferred, given the unpredictable nature of the conflict.”

The ministry advised Malaysians residing in or travelling to Iran, particularly those near affected areas, to stay vigilant, follow local authority instructions, and stay updated on the latest developments. It also called on Malaysians in Iran to update their contact information with the Malaysian Embassy in Tehran.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Embassy in Amman said it is closely monitoring the situation after the latest developments on Friday, June 13, 2025, and confirmed that no Malaysians have been reported affected by the incident.

“Malaysians in Jordan and Syria are advised to remain vigilant, stay updated through credible news sources, follow advisories from local authorities, and take all necessary precautions,” it said in a separate advisory.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Malaysians abroad through its diplomatic missions, urging citizens to reach out to the nearest Malaysian Embassy for emergency consular assistance.
