ISTANBUL – Three high-ranking commanders of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence apparatus were killed in an Israeli airstrike amid escalating tensions, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported, citing the Iranian news agency Tasnim on Sunday evening.

In a statement, the IRGC identified the slain officials as the head of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation Gen. Mohammad Kazemi; the deputy intelligence chief of the IRGC Gen. Hassan Mohaqeq and a senior intelligence officer Gen. Mohsen Bagheri.

Israel launched coordinated airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, on Friday, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. Attacks and counterattacks have continued since then. – June 16, 2025
