GUA MUSANG – Residents of Kg Orang Asli (KOA) Bering Baru are set to benefit from enhanced communication services following proactive initiatives by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

In a significant move, the MCMC has introduced free WiFi technology, allowing villagers to access the internet without charge through Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) facilities.

In a statement today, the MCMC said that each registered resident will receive 5GB of complimentary data monthly, with the option to obtain additional data through selected appointed agents.

“Kg Bering Baru is one of 18 locations in the Gua Musang district benefiting from improvements to KOA coverage as part of our efforts under the JENDELA Plan.

In addition to these immediate enhancements, the MCMC has identified a location for the construction of a new telecommunications tower near the village.

“This proposal is set to be included in future infrastructure development plans under the upcoming JENDELA initiative,” the statement read.

The MCMC added that it has pledged to continue monitoring the situation to ensure that communication coverage in the area remains optimal, thereby improving the quality of life for the residents of Kg Bering Baru.

This initiative marks a vital step towards bridging the digital divide for underserved communities. – June 26, 2025
