KUALA LUMPUR – Police are narrowing down the list of suspects in the Brickfields shooting incident and have begun working on sketches and photofits to track them down.

Brickfields Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal, told Scoop that through collaboration with the Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Departments (CID), they have determined that the suspects are likely hiding in areas around Bandar Kinrara, Taman Medan, and Pantai Dalam.

“We have narrowed down the suspects and are very close to apprehending them.

“The police have been working diligently since the day the incident occurred to ensure justice is served.

“Initially, Old Klang Road was also on our radar, but we have since shifted our focus to the other three areas, as they appear to be more likely hiding spots for the suspects.

“It’s a very challenging case as the suspects were wearing face masks and helmets, but we are progressing with the sketches and photofits based on the evidence gathered during our investigation,” said Firdaus when contacted.

The incident involved two men on a motorcycle who opened fire at a group of individuals at a restaurant on Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, at 10.50pm on June 13, killing one person and injuring two others.

Another man was fatally shot in front of a convenience store on Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras, on June 16.

It was reported that five suspects were arrested on June 16 in connection with the fatal Brickfields shooting.

However, Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad, confirmed that they were released on bail after their statements were recorded.

As for the Cheras shooting, no arrests have been made thus far. Investigations are ongoing, with the Sarawak CID assisting in determining the motive behind the attack.

A total of 18 individuals have had their statements recorded regarding the Brickfields case, while 20 statements have been taken for the Cheras incident. – June 30, 2025
