KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized a string of luxury properties, including a golf club, as part of its investigation into a company director suspected of laundering RM75 million.
Sources said the seized assets, located around the Klang Valley, include bungalows, condominiums, office premises, land lots and a golf club — with an estimated total value of RM620 million.
Four luxury vehicles worth around RM2 million were also confiscated.
The suspect, who is believed to be in his 50s, is reportedly a shareholder in the golf club.
“The MACC has so far recorded statements from nine individuals to assist the investigation.
“In addition, 72 bank accounts — both personal and corporate — containing a combined total of approximately RM390,000 have been frozen,” the source said, FMT reported.
The MACC senior director of the Special Operations Division, Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin, confirmed the developments.
The investigation stems from the June 30 arrest of the company director, who carries the title “Datuk Wira”. He was remanded for allegedly laundering funds believed to have been channelled into a company he owns.
Initial findings suggest the illicit activity dates back to 2012 and is linked to a RM400 million loan intended for a nationwide fibre optic network development project.
The MACC launched a special operation dubbed Op Fibre in June, involving coordinated raids at four separate locations in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, including the suspect’s home and office.
The director is also suspected of bribing the chief executive officer of a bank to facilitate approval of the loan tied to the project. — July 10, 2025
