Putrajaya MRT line faces delays due to debris on track blocking movement

Shuttle trains, feeder buses deployed as repairs continue between UPM and Taman Equine

8:52 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Services on the Putrajaya MRT line were disrupted this morning following an incident involving a stalled train between UPM and Taman Equine stations, forcing Rapid Rail to activate temporary shuttle arrangements and deploy feeder buses.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, the operator of Rapid KL’s rail network, in a statement, said the breakdown occurred at 5.42am and was caused by unidentified debris found on the track, which blocked train movement along the segment.

To manage the disruption and minimise inconvenience to passengers, Rapid Rail has introduced the following interim measures:

– Trains departing from Kwasa Damansara are terminating at UPM
– A shuttle train is operating between UPM and 16 Sierra
– A second shuttle is running between 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral
– Feeder buses have been mobilised to provide connection between 16 Sierra, Putra Permai, Taman Equine and UPM stations

Engineering teams were dispatched to the site shortly after the incident and are currently conducting repair and clearance work to restore full operations. No timeline has been given for when normal MRT services will resume.

Meanwhile, auxiliary police and station staff have been stationed at key points to assist affected passengers and manage foot traffic. Station announcements and social media updates are being made regularly to keep commuters informed.

Passengers are advised to factor in additional travel time and check Rapid KL’s official channels before beginning their journey.

Rapid Rail apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their patience and understanding. – July 29, 2025
