KUALA LUMPUR — A Rolls-Royce Cullinan valued at RM3 million, believed to belong to a prominent businessman, was among the 53 luxury vehicles seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during Op Luxury. The operation, which ran from July 30 to today, targeted vehicles in the Klang Valley.
Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, Senior Enforcement Director at JPJ, stated that three foreign nationals were arrested for driving luxury vehicles without valid insurance, expired road tax, and without a proper licence, Bernama reported.
One of the men, when asked to show his driving licence, presented an international licence that was later confirmed to be fake.
“The individual admitted to purchasing the counterfeit licence while abroad,” Muhammad Kifli explained at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur JPJ Impound Depot.
In addition to the expired road tax and insurance, some vehicles were found with unregistered number plates and other technical violations. Among the seized vehicles were the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, two Lamborghinis, and an Aston Martin, all of which are now held at the JPJ depot for further investigation and legal action under the Road Transport Act 1987.
The JPJ director noted that many of the vehicle owners claimed to have forgotten to renew their road tax or insurance. However, he dismissed this as an unacceptable excuse, pointing out that some vehicles had expired road tax dating back to 2022.
Muhammad Kifli also revealed that JPJ has identified more than 1,000 luxury vehicles across the country with expired road tax and insurance. He urged owners to renew their road tax promptly to avoid their vehicles being confiscated, emphasising that the department would not tolerate any violations of road regulations. – August 1, 2025
