KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal have pledged to examine the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Disciplinary Board’s decision to dismiss and suspend them respectively, before determining their next course of action.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, Wan Saiful said both he and Wan Fayhsal have 14 days to file an appeal and will review the grounds of the decision carefully.
“We will study the disciplinary board’s decision and consider our next steps, including whether to appeal. Both of us remain committed to the party and to the struggle we began together,” said the Tasik Gelugor MP.
He added that the decision, which saw him dismissed from the party and Wan Fayhsal suspended, raised concerns about fairness and due process within Bersatu’s internal disciplinary proceedings.
Both MPs received their respective letters via WhatsApp on Monday night, with Wan Saiful confirming that his was sent at 10.45pm.
“This party does not belong to any one person. Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional belong to all members who built it from the ground up. We will continue to fight within the party’s internal processes,” he said.
Wan Fayhsal, the Machang MP, criticised the proceedings, claiming that two members of the four-person Disciplinary Board had conflicts of interest due to familial and professional ties with the party’s current leadership.
“We requested that those members be recused to ensure fairness, but that did not happen. When we were called in, the complainant was not even present. Is this the gold standard of justice?” he asked.
He further alleged that the process was “selective and rushed”, noting that the complaint was lodged on September 18 and that he was called in for a hearing just a week later, on Sept 25.
“I congratulate my party for such remarkable efficiency,” he said.
“But the question is whether this efficiency is applied consistently, or only to certain people.”
Wan Fayhsal also questioned the timing of the disciplinary action, saying it risked disrupting Bersatu’s preparations for several key political events.
“This move comes at a time when we are preparing for the Sabah state election, discussing the national budget, and strengthening the opposition’s message.
“I question the wisdom of those who decided to rush what is supposed to be justice but in truth, is injustice,” he said.
Despite their removal and suspension, both leaders insisted they remain loyal to Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional, and will continue serving their constituents as members of Parliament.
“We are still MPs, elected by the people. We will continue to speak truth to power, hold the government accountable, and defend the people’s welfare,” said Wan Fayhsal, adding that both he and Wan Saiful had received “hundreds of messages of support” from party members and opposition colleagues.
Both MPs stressed that the disciplinary action would not divide them, asserting that their fight was to restore the party’s integrity and prevent it from being. – October 14, 2025
