KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) urges the public not to spread or upload any form of content, including pictures or videos, depicting the victim of a stabbing that occurred yesterday morning at a school in Petaling Jaya.

The commission, in a statement today, also emphasized that if any form of dissemination has been carried out by the public, they are urged to immediately delete it out of a sense of responsibility.

“MCMC urges all parties to act responsibly and not to share, resend, or upload any content, including pictures or videos, that display the victim, other students, or the location of the incident.

“If such content has been uploaded, the public is advised to immediately delete it,” said MCMC, which also extended condolences to the family of the 16-year-old female student who died in the tragic incident.

MCMC said that the act of spreading pictures or videos of the victim not only violates the privacy and dignity of the families involved but also jeopardizes the ongoing investigation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The commission also reminded that legal action can be taken against individuals distributing such content under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588].

In the incident around 9.30 am yesterday, a Form Four female student died, suspected to have been stabbed by a male student in an incident at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya.

Following this, police seized two sharp weapons suspected to have been used in the incident and also detained the 14-year-old suspect, who is a student at the same school. – 15 October, 2025
