KUALA LUMPUR – A man has been killed and a woman injured after several trees were uprooted in a thunderstorm that struck Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
The storm, which brought heavy rain and strong winds, caused multiple trees to fall across the city, leading to serious accidents and significant damage.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre received numerous emergency calls between 4.00pm and 5.30pm, as the storm battered the capital.
Fire teams were immediately dispatched to various locations to conduct rescue operations and clear fallen trees to ensure public safety.

One of the most tragic incidents occurred at Hartamas Regency along Persiaran Dutamas in Taman Duta, where a man in his 40s was killed after two cars were crushed by a fallen tree. Health Ministry personnel confirmed his death at the scene.
In a separate incident at Jalan Metro Prima in Kepong Baru, a woman in her 30s was injured when a tree struck her vehicle. The extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.
Another report came from Jalan Burung Balam in Taman Bukit Maluri, where a car was also damaged after being hit by a falling tree.
“The fire teams worked quickly and efficiently to manage all the incidents,” the department said.
“The situation was brought under control, and clearing operations were conducted immediately at all affected locations.” – October 22, 2025
