No casualties as early-morning fire hits Petronas Tower 3 restaurant

Firefighters contained the blaze on the 57th floor within 30 minutes; investigations underway to determine cause

KUALA LUMPUR — No casualties were reported after a fire broke out early this morning at a restaurant on the 57th floor of Petronas Tower 3.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said the blaze was brought under control within 30 minutes of the distress call, reported Bernama.

Sentul Fire and Rescue Station chief Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafizan Hassan said they received the alert at 6.41am and immediately dispatched a team to the site.

“The Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre also sent engines from the Tun Razak and Hang Tuah stations, along with 35 personnel. The fire affected about 30% of the restaurant,” he said.

He added that firefighters entered the high-rise using the designated lift and extinguished the flames using the building’s wet riser system. The blaze was contained by 7.04am and fully put out at 8.45am.

Kuala Lumpur JBPM director Senior Assistant Commissioner Hassan ‘As’ari Omar confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, KLCC Property Holdings Berhad (KLCCP) confirmed that a fire broke out at 6.43 am today.

It said in a statement that the authorities will carry out further investigations into the incident.

“The KLCC Emergency Response Team promptly notified the Fire and Rescue Department, which arrived at the scene at approximately 7 am. The fire was extinguished at 7.20 am and no injuries were reported,” it said. — November 1, 2025
