KUALA LUMPUR – The matter concerning a possible cabinet reshuffle was not brought up in the cabinet meeting as the matter is the Prime Minister’s prerogative, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“There have been no discussions about a cabinet reshuffle… never… that’s the prime minister’s prerogative to reshuffle the cabinet lineup, and appoint whoever as a minister or deputy minister,” Bernama quoted Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development minister, telling reporters after attending his ministry’s monthly meeting at Putrajaya this morning.
He was responding to a question on whether this evening’s cabinet meeting will include discussions on the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of several of its members recently.
On Nov 8, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick’s announced his resignation from the cabinet, via a statement on Facebook.
On another matter, Zahid said the special cabinet meeting, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will focus solely on the demand for the return of 40 pct of Sabah’s revenue.
Yesterday, Anwar confirmed that a decision on the return of 40 pct of Sabah’s revenue will be made in today’s special cabinet meeting.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said that he will seek the advice of the Attorney-General before deciding on whether or not to appeal against the demand. – November 11, 2025
