KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has launched a new online membership system, signaling a major step in the party’s efforts to modernise and revitalise its operations.

MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said that the digital platform is designed to streamline membership processes, reduce bureaucracy, and remove longstanding barriers for prospective members.

“This initiative is not just about technology, it’s about renewing the party from every angle.

“The online system allows applicants to submit their details digitally, and once processed, they are automatically registered as MIC members. This makes joining faster, simpler, and more accessible,” Saravanan said in a statement.

He added that the move is also aimed at attracting younger Malaysians, particularly Generation Y and first-time voters.

At the same time, Saravanan emphasised the party’s goal to engage youth by reflecting their energy and aspirations.

He added that this digital shift forms part of MIC’s broader transformation agenda, which includes adopting modern technology to manage party affairs and ensure its relevance in today’s rapidly changing political landscape. – November 16, 2025
