Woman rescued after ECRL construction site collapse in Batu Caves

Steel pillars from an East Coast Rail Link project fell onto a vehicle on MRR2, with the victim saved by bystanders before firefighters arrived

KUALA LUMPUR – A woman survived after her car was crushed by falling steel pillars from a construction site for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) on the MRR2 in Batu Caves, near the Gombak toll, earlier today.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of Operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, said that the woman, believed to be in her 40s, was successfully extracted by members of the public before the arrival of the emergency services.

The victim’s current condition remains unclear, though no additional casualties have been reported. – November 18, 2025
