(UPDATED)Cloudflare outage disrupts Malaysian websites, including news portals and Bursa Malaysia

Access issues persist as global infrastructure firm works to restore services, Scoop among outlets affected

KUALA LUMPUR — Several Malaysian websites, including news outlets and corporate platforms, were rendered inaccessible for hours yesterday due to a service degradation affecting Cloudflare, a global provider of internet infrastructure and cybersecurity.

Among those impacted was Scoop, a local news site that remained offline for at least three hours. Bursa Malaysia Bhd also reported disruptions, stating via X that its platforms were down due to the global outage.

“We will update once we are up and running again. We understand the inconvenience this disruption causes, and we sincerely apologise. We are monitoring the situation closely and hope to have our services fully up and running again soon,” the bourse said.

Cloudflare confirmed that it had implemented changes allowing its Access and WARP services to recover, with error levels returning to pre-incident levels. However, the company noted that efforts to restore full functionality for application services customers were ongoing.

The outage has raised concerns about the vulnerability of digital infrastructure, particularly for media and financial services reliant on third-party platforms.

Meanwhile, Bursa Malaysia announced that its services were fully restored at 11.34 pm last night.

Taking to X, the local exchange operator said that the technical issue had been resolved and its platforms were operating normally.

“The Cloudflare issue has been resolved, and services are fully restored. Our services are back to normal. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the downtime,” Bernama reported the bourse, saying in a statement.- November 19, 2025
