KUALA LUMPUR – The issue concerning MIC wanting to quit the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition would be discussed and solved “internally”, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.
“When there is any issue, we will sit down and talk it out.
“That has always been BN’s tradition. We don’t like to squabble openly,” Berita Harian quoted Zambry as saying in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today.
He was commenting on MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran’s remark that the party is open to meeting the BN leadership to discuss the party’s future in BN. This, as the party is eyeing joining Perikatan Nasional.
MIC’s 79th annual convention recently deferred the decision on whether to stay in BN to Vigneswaran and the Central Working Committee (CWC). Vigneswaran later said the party is prepared to work with any bloc that respects its principles and ideology, including Pakatan Harapan.
Zambry reiterated that the issue concerning MIC will be settled after the Sabah state elections.
“They (MIC) also know that we will sort out the issue (concerning the party) after the Sabah state election. We will sit down over coffee and talk it out.” – November 22, 2025
