KUALA LUMPUR – The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has advised residents to remain cautious and follow official orders as heavy rainfall since early morning has caused widespread flooding in various areas of Shah Alam and parts of Klang.
MBSA confirmed in a statement that several areas have been affected, including Taman Desa Kemuning, Kampung Budiman, Kampung Kubu Gajah, Taman Sri Lembayung, Jalan Opera, Persiaran Budiman, and Persiaran Jubli Perak. Flooding has also been reported around the Giant hypermarket in Section 13, with rising water levels closing several roads. The city council urged road users to seek alternative routes and follow evacuation orders if necessary.
“Please comply with the orders of the authorities if asked to relocate to temporary relief centres,” MBSA said in a Facebook post. The city council also announced the closure of Jalan Batu Tiga Lama, which leads towards Taman Mesra, due to rising water levels. Officers have been deployed to assist in the relocation of residents and vehicles to safer areas.
In a separate report, Astro Radio Traffic stated that flash floods had blocked the left and middle lanes of the New Klang Valley Expressway, from Setia Alam to Subang, affecting the Seafield turnoff.
By 12.20pm, 11,825 people had been evacuated across Malaysia, with Kelantan reported as the worst-hit state. In Selangor, 86 evacuees have sought shelter at five relief centres in Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, and Hulu Langat.
MBSA also announced that Jalan Kampung Kubu Gajah 5 was impassable due to high water levels, and rising waters were reported in several other locations, including Section 13 around the Giant Hypermarket, Section 16 near Jalan Mat Raji in Padang Jawa, Section 19 at Persiaran Jubli Perak, Section 23 at Persiaran Perusahaan, and Section 25 in areas like Jalan Mantap 25/126, Jalan Sentosa 25/129, Persiaran Budiman, and Taman Sri Lembayung.
Additionally, floodwaters have affected Section 35 in Taman Desa Kemuning, Section U1 at Kampung Budiman, Section U2 at Jalan Opera, and Section U17 around Kampung Kubu Gajah.
The floods have also disrupted public transport services, with Rapid KL announcing that bus routes 751, T756, and SA06 are affected. Several bus stops, including those in Section 23, Taman Sri Muda, and the Commercial Centre in Section 25, are currently inaccessible.
MBSA has mobilised its emergency response team, PANTAS, to monitor the flood situation and assist residents in affected areas. In Section 25, the team was seen helping residents move their vehicles to higher ground.
Earlier in the day, the council reported that flood-prone areas such as Sungai Damansara in Section 13 are experiencing rising water levels, but flood pumps in these locations are functioning optimally.
