KUALA LUMPUR – AmBank has expressed deep concern over a viral video involving a third-party security guard and a man mistreating a man outside its Taman Maluri branch, saying it has zero tolerance for any form of harassment or disrespectful behaviour.

In a statement today, the bank said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident, which showed the victim being confronted by an individual believed to be a cobbler operating near the premises.

“No individuals deserve to be treated in that manner, plus the safety of everyone around our premises is our top priority,” the statement read.

AmBank clarified that the security personnel seen in the video was employed by an external security agency appointed at the branch.

However, it stressed that this did not absolve anyone representing the brand from professional responsibility.

“Regardless, we expect all personnels representing our Bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest professional conduct,” it added.

According to the statement, the man seen behaving aggressively in the video was a cobbler who had been frustrated with the victim, leading to the confrontation.

The bank assured that it was fully assisting authorities in their investigation, and that steps would be taken to prevent similar incidents.

“We are also in full cooperation with the relevant authorities and it is our aim to prevent this from ever happening again,” it said, while thanking Malaysians for their concern and solidarity. – November 25, 2025
