KUALA LUMPUR – Ten state assemblymen were sworn in as State Cabinet Ministers before Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman today, in the newly-elected Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led government.
According to Bernama, seven of the 10 were assemblymen from GRS, along with one each from United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), Barisan Nasional (BN), and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Heading the list was Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) acting president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who is also the Kundasang assemblyman.
Also sworn in were GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is Karanaan assemblyman, and UPKO president and Kadamaian assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) vice-presidents Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif (Membakut) and Datuk Rubin Balang (Kemabong), PGRS information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (Apas) and Sugut PGRS division chief Datuk James Ratib (Sugut) also took their oaths of office.
PBS secretary-general Datuk Julita Mojungki (Matunggong), Sabah UMNO secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin (Sukau) and Melalap assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaafar (PH) completed the lineup of those sworn in.
Bernama also reported that Joachim was among the three Deputy Chief Ministers appointed today, along with Masidi and Ewon.
Yesterday morning, GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister.
GRS won 29 out of 73 seats in last Saturday’s election. Warisan won 25 seats, followed by BN (six), independents (five), Upko (three) and Star (two). Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) each won one seat.– December 1, 2025
