KUALA LUMPUR – Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has vehemently rejected claims that his party is attempting to buy or entice elected representatives.
Describing the allegations as baseless, he stressed that they contradict Warisan’s core principles, as reported by Borneo Post.
“I firmly deny the claim that Warisan is attempting to buy or entice assemblymen. Our commitment has always been to integrity, and leadership must be earned through the trust of the people,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Shafie also expressed his gratitude to the voters who supported Warisan in the recent state election.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to all voters who supported Warisan. Your confidence in us is deeply valued, and we carry that responsibility with humility and honour,” he added.
“Warisan respects the mandate of the people and the democratic process that guides our state.”
He further reiterated that Warisan remains dedicated to fulfilling its duties to the people, whether in government or opposition.
“We will continue to fulfil the role entrusted to us with dignity, consistency, and an unwavering dedication to serving Sabah,” he affirmed.
The Warisan leader also urged all parties to uphold integrity and respect the will of the people as Sabah moves forward following the state election.
Shafie’s statement follows a report by Free Malaysia Today citing an anonymous source that alleged Barisan Nasional (BN) was incorporated into the new Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Plus government to protect Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor’s administration from collapsing within days of his swearing-in.
The report quoted a GRS insider, who claimed that Warisan attempted to destabilise the emerging state government by offering full ministerial positions to BN representatives and five independent assemblymen.
“We had no choice but to accept BN. Otherwise, the Sabah administration could have collapsed,” the source was quoted as saying. – December 2, 2025
