Tengku Zafrul appointed MIDA Chairman for two-year term

His appointment, effective December 3, 2025, aims to strengthen MIDA’s role in driving high-quality investments

KUALA LUMPUR – Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has been appointed as the Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), effective from December 3, 2025, for a two-year term.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement today.

“The Prime Minister has agreed to appoint Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz as the Chairman of MIDA, effective December 3, 2025, for a term of two years,” the statement read.

This appointment is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen MIDA’s role as the country’s primary agency in attracting high-quality investments, particularly amid growing global competition.

“In addition to leading MIDA, Tengku Zafrul will also be entrusted with additional responsibilities, which will be detailed and announced later by the Prime Minister,” the statement added.

Tengku Zafrul, who has held several key positions in the government, including Minister of Finance and Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, brings with him extensive experience in finance and economic development.

MIDA was previously chaired by Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob. – December 3, 2025
