“Assalamualaikum. With deep sorrow, we inform that our father, Moktar bin Radin, has breathed his last on December 5, 2025, at 1.46am (14 Jamadilakhir 1447H).

“We kindly ask for prayers that his soul be blessed with mercy and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” he wrote.

At the same time, Sabah Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, in a Facebook post, described the late leader as a respected figure who had devoted much of his life to Sabah’s political development and progress.

“He is a great loss to the community and the state. May Allah SWT shower His mercy upon the soul of the late leader, place him among the believers, and grant him paradise as his resting place,” he posted.

Meanwhile, deputy foreign minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, who is also an Umno Supreme Council member, said he was deeply saddened by the loss of a leader who had played a significant role not only in Sabah Umno but also in shaping his own political journey.

“May the family members of the late (Allahyarham) remain strong in accepting Allah’s decree. Let us pray that his soul is blessed with mercy and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” he said in a Facebook post.

Last night, Bung Moktar was receiving treatment at the Gleneagles Hospital in Kota Kinabalu after suffering kidney failure and a severe lung infection.
