KUALA LUMPUR – A Member of Parliament was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Kedah on Thursday in connection with allegations surrounding a state government cattle farming joint venture.

According to sources, the arrest followed an investigation launched in February, involving claims the MP received approximately RM400,000 in exchange for facilitating land use rights for the feedlot project, local media reported.

“The investigation paper was opened following a complaint received on 10 February 2025. Investigations have been conducted, involving 15 witnesses who have given statements,” the MACC said in a statement.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest, saying the MP was questioned under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act 2009 before being released on bail. – December 5, 2025
