PN Chief Whip affirms the coalition's non-interference, upholding the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty' for the MP

KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced a complete hands-off approach to the case involving Padang Serai Member of Parliament, Datuk Azman Nasrudin, who faces charges related to the Kedah government’s joint venture cattle fidlot project.

The opposition coalition has fully surrendered the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the legal process.

PN Chief Whip, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, confirmed the coalition would not interfere, stressing that the matter must proceed through the judicial system.

“We are not interfering in this process; instead, we are handing it over to the legal process,” said the Kota Bharu MP, as reported by BH.

Takiyuddin reiterated the coalition’s stance on judicial fairness: “We are adopting the approach that an individual is innocent until proven guilty in court. In this case, we are open and hope that the Padang Serai MP will be given his due rights.”

RM400,000 Graft Allegation

Yesterday, Azman confirmed his arrest and stated that he is scheduled to be charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court this Monday.

He said the charges, which fall under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act 2009, relate to a Kedah government cattle joint venture project which he claims contains elements of ‘political influence.’

Earlier, MACC sources revealed that the investigation, which began in February, involves allegations that the MP received approximately RM400,000 in exchange for helping to secure land use rights for the fidlot project. – December 6, 2025
