KUALA LUMPUR – A man who claimed that he consumed drugs with former lawyer M. Ravi a few hours before the lawyer was pronounced dead has been arrested by Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
Citing a CNA report, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an emergency call at an apartment at about 5.40am.
Paramedics were dispatched to the apartment and found that the person requiring assistance was a 56-year-old man identified as Ravi.
Police said the former lawyer was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital unconscious, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to police, there was another individual in the apartment when SCDF arrived. The individual, identified as “A”, was the person who contacted the emergency services.
“‘A’ said that he and M. Ravi had taken drugs a few hours earlier, and that M. Ravi exhibited concerning symptoms after taking the drugs.
“‘A’ also administered CPR to M. Ravi and stated that the drugs belonged to him,” police said.
Police added that based on preliminary investigations, authorities do not suspect any foul play.
“The cause of death can only be confirmed after a post-mortem examination. Police investigations are ongoing.”
“‘A’ has been arrested by CNB for suspected drug-related offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act,” the statement said.
