KUALA LUMPUR – One of the three Perlis PAS representatives sacked from the party for an alleged mutiny against the state leadership has defended his action, citing weak leadership by the Menteri Besar.
According to Bintong assemblyperson Fakhrul Anwar Ismail, the state’s chief executive Mohd Shukri Ramli had weakened the party at the state level, and thus, had to be replaced.
“Our actions were right in our judgment, and may be wrong to those with differing views.
“What is certain is that the MB’s (Mohd Shukri) actions have indeed weakened PAS in Perlis. He must be replaced,” he was quoted telling Berita Harian today.
Fakhrul Anwar, however, refused to elaborate on what action by the Menteri Besar had weakened PAS in Perlis, saying it would be only disclosed after a new Menteri Besar has been appointed.
He added that PAS still remains “close to his heart” and confirmed that he would submit an appeal against his sacking.
Aside from Fakhrul Anwar, two other PAS assemblymen, namely Saad Seman (Chuping), and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji), were also sacked after signing statutory declarations (SDs) reportedly undermining the leadership of the state government, party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said in a statement last night.
Earlier today, Perlis State Assembly Speaker Rus’sele Eizan announced that he would inform the Election Commission (EC) of the unexpected vacancies for the three state seats held by the three representatives following their termination.
Although there is no requirement to hold elections to fill vacancies as the State Assembly has completed three years of its term on Dec 18, Rus’sele said he would write to the EC requesting for by-elections to fill the vacancies. – December 25, 2025
