KUALA LUMPUR – Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman has resumed his duties with immediate effect after his suspension was lifted by the governing body’s disciplinary committee.

FAM said in a statement that the disciplinary committee, chaired by Datuk Dr Baljit Singh Sidhu, met today to review the case involving Noor Azman in its entirety.

“The committee has taken into account the period of suspension already served and the report from the Independent Investigation Committee (IIC) dated December 15, 2025,” FAM said.

“Following this review, the committee has decided to reinstate Noor Azman to his role as secretary-general with immediate effect.”

FAM added that its executive committee had earlier, on December 22, 2025, discussed the IIC report and decided to maintain the suspension, which had been in effect since October 17, 2025 to allow the matter to be referred to the disciplinary committee for further action.

“Noor Azman was found to be involved only in administrative negligence and was not found guilty of, nor involved in, any document forgery, as previously alleged,” the statement said.

FAM emphasised that the decision reflects the association’s commitment to due process and transparency in its governance.

Noor Azman was suspended amid a broader controversy involving the national football team’s naturalisation of seven foreign-born players.

FIFA’s disciplinary committee later found that FAM had submitted documents to prove the players’ eligibility that were allegedly falsified or doctored, in breach of Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

The players who featured in Malaysia’s 2027 Asian Cup qualifying matches were subsequently banned for 12 months, while FAM was fined 350,000 Swiss francs (approximately RM1.8 million). — January 8, 2026
