Special diagnostic test for six-year-olds entering Year One from 2027: Fadhlina

Only pupils who meet criteria and pass screening will be eligible

KUALA LUMPUR – A special diagnostic screening test will be introduced to determine the eligibility of children to enter Year One at the age of six, beginning with the 2027 school session.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said only pupils who meet the set criteria and successfully pass the diagnostic test will be selected for early admission.

She added that parents will be required to register their children for the screening test, with details of its implementation to be announced later.

Fadhlina also clarified that admission into Year One at the age of six will not be mandatory for all parents.

She was speaking to reporters at the PAKAT Preschool Programme held at the Kedah State Education Department, today.
