KUALA LUMPUR – A 21-year-old man was arrested early this morning after his car crashed into a bollard and security barrier at Gate 2 of Istana Negara, located along Jalan Changkat Semantan.
According to ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), the incident occurred at approximately 3.30 am. The driver, a local, was behind the wheel of a Toyota Vios and was travelling from Bukit Damansara, Bernama reported.
“No injuries were reported, either to the driver or any other individuals. However, the accident caused damage to the front of the vehicle, the bollard, and the security barrier,” he stated.
Authorities promptly launched an investigation at the scene, which included reviewing CCTV footage, recording the driver’s statement, and conducting a breathalyser test.
The test revealed that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was 166 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood, exceeding the legal limit.
“The driver will face charges under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and will be brought before the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court this morning,” Zamzuri said. – January 23, 2026
