KUALA LUMPUR – Several new appointments have been made to the Parliamentary Special Select Committees (PSSCs) to replace Members of Parliament who were appointed as ministers and deputy ministers following last month’s Cabinet reshuffle.
Former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who was dropped from the Cabinet, has been elected as a member of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), according to the minutes of the Committee of Selection meeting released today.
The committee is chaired by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Zaliha (PH–Sekijang) replaces Sim Tze Tzin (PH–Bayan Baru), who was appointed Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry during the reshuffle.
Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN–Simpang Renggam) has been appointed to the Finance and Economy PSSC, replacing Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN–Paya Besar), who was recently named Deputy Economy Minister. Shahar previously served as chairman of the committee.
For the Health PSSC, Tan Kar Hing (PH–Gopeng) replaces Sim, who was the committee’s vice-chairman, while Onn Abu Bakar (PH–Batu Pahat) takes the place of Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (PH–Sungai Petani) following his appointment as Youth and Sports Minister.
In the Security PSSC, Jimmy Puah (PH–Tebrau) replaces Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PH–Ledang), who has been appointed Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability. Syed Ibrahim was previously the committee’s vice-chairman.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Lo Su Fui (GRS–Tawau) has been replaced by Datuk Matbali Musah in the House Committee, and by Datuk Jonathan Yassin (GRS–Ranau) in the Finance and Economy Committee. — January 26, 2026
